Marc S. Freedman, CFP®
PRESIDENT/CEO
Marc’s Bio
As head of the firm, Marc is responsible for:
- Overseeing overall management, compliance, marketing and operations
- Conducting initial consultations
- Presenting financial plans and investment strategies
- Managing and facilitating client meetings
- Business Development
Since joining Freedman Financial in 1991, Marc has become known for his dynamic client meetings, enthusiastic presentations, and delivering financial advice in a language you can understand®. He is quoted both nationally and abroad on financial planning issues in print, television, and social media. Since, 2013 Marc has hosted a weekly radio show; Dollars & Sense on Northshore 104.9FM, it can be heard 8-9am every Sunday morning. As a respected orator and writer, he has also authored Retiring for the Genius and Oversold and Underserved, available on Amazon.com.
Marc is committed to serving the local community. He and his wife, Laura have run the B’nai Brith Booth at the Topsfield Fair for more than 10 years where more than 200 volunteers are needed to feed hungry fairgoers. Recently, he became past president of Temple Emanuel, Andover, MA after serving the community as a lay leader for eight years. Marc regularly speaks to high school students and not-for-profit entities about financial literacy. He is also an avid supporter of community theater and the arts. You can oftentimes find him emceeing a charity fundraiser, hosting a Karaoke event, or playing piano at a local eatery.
A graduate of Babson College, Marc is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional and maintains his Series 7, 24 and 63 securities registrations through LPL Financial. In 1985-1986, he traveled with the international music and leadership organization, “Up with People”. An avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. He enjoys playing piano, hosting karaoke shows, public speaking, eating out, and traveling.
Marc and his wife Laura have been married for 29 years and are the proud parents of five children, Mindy, Ilana, Jerry, Noah, and Corey.

Marion Gilman, CFP®
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND PARTNER
Marion’s Bio
As a Managing Partner in the firm, Marion is responsible for:
- Overseeing investment research and management
- Creating asset allocation models aligned with client goals
- Meeting with clients to discuss their overall financial needs and goals
- Developing and monitoring financial planning strategies
- Delivering ongoing financial advice
Marion joined Freedman Financial in 2000, after many years of teaching Finance and Investments at Bentley College, Johnson & Wales University, and North Shore Community College. She is passionate about developing relationships with clients and helping them understand how to work towards their financial goals.
In her previous career, she was a pastry chef, pursuing a fascination she developed while living in France during her junior year in college.
Marion received a BA from Connecticut College, an MBA from Bentley College, and an MA in Economics from the University of New Hampshire. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional and maintains her Series 7, 24 and 63 securities registrations through LPL Financial and her 65 through Freedman Financial.
She has had a long-time involvement in the local community including as a volunteer in the Middleton Public Schools along with serving on the Board of Trustees and as treasurer for the Flint Public Library. She has also enjoyed being a presenter for the Women in Science and Engineering (W.I.S.E.) program and the nonprofit organization, Massachusetts Women in Public Higher Education, and a board member and treasurer of the Peabody Chamber of Commerce.
Residing in Middleton, MA, she is married to Richard and has one son. She and her family are avid travelers. They enjoy exploring other cultures and discovering new food and wine. She still never misses an opportunity to visit a pastry shop.
She is a devoted walker, so be sure to say hello if you meet her on the path.

Sonia Del Valle
DIRECTOR OF CLIENT OPERATIONS
Sonia’s Bio
Sonia manages client operations and is responsible for:
- Proper opening of new accounts
- Ensuring accounts are funded and maintained
- Processing financial movement of checks and transfers
For more than a decade, Sonia has been entrusted to manage client operations at Freedman Financial. Her years of monitoring client accounts in various capacities throughout the industry, makes her a strong client ally. A life-long North Shore resident, Sonia, her husband and daughter enjoy family, friends, Boston Celtics and Patriots. And all the while, encouraging her daughter’s continued success at Tae Kwon Do.
Jodi K. Deldon
DIRECTOR OF FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Jodi’s Bio
As Director of First Impressions, Jodi ensures that your office experience is comfortable, meaningful and of the highest standard. Jodi’s responsibilities include:
- Appointment scheduling
- Client events
- Weekly newsletter
- General correspondence
- Overall office management & operations
Jodi’s career path has pointed her toward client-centric, front-line roles in varying industries. Her poise, approach-ability, humor, and natural instincts helps create a positive office experience. A longtime resident of the North Shore, she and her husband enjoy spending time with family and friends, and of course the occasional Jimmy Buffett concert. At last count she’s attended fifty-nine.
Christian Karcher, CFP®

Christian’s Bio
Christian is responsible for:
- Financial plan design and preparation
- Retirement planning scenarios
- Insurance review
- Providing financial advice to clients
- Investment analysis
Christian became a Financial Planner over six years ago because he wanted to help families navigate the excitement of planning for their future while helping handle the stresses of the financial decisions that come with it. He brings strong technical skills, mastery at running “what-if” planning scenarios, and a fresh eye to our continued approach to delivering personalized client solutions. Christian’s go-to financial advice is your most important step wasn’t your first one, it’s your next one.
Christian hails from Wisconsin where he attended the University of Wisconsin. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and maintains his Series 7 securities registration through LPL Financial and his series 66 through Freedman Financial.
Christian is married to his long-time sweetheart, Jessica. They have two cats named Penelope and Kirk. He is an avid supporter of the Animal Rescue League of Boston- which is where both of his cats are adopted from!
During his free time, Christian enjoys reading books on history, finance, and fantasy. Christian also roots for the Bucks, Packers, Brewers, and Badgers (…but we do not hold that against him in our Boston sports-biased office.)

Corey Freedman
INVESTMENT ASSISTANT
Corey Freedman is a recent graduate of North Andover High School. He’ll be attending Babson College, Wellesley, MA as a Business Management major in the Fall. He’s excited to join the Freedman Financial team this summer as an intern to learn a variety of business-related skills and offer support to the entire team. Previously, he worked at the Lobster Tail in North Andover, MA. His interests include playing the piano, singing, musical theater, improv, and video games. Corey is a proud Signature-Level member at Chick fil-A.
Beth Ford
CLIENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE
Beth’s Bio
Beth Ford is our resident Client Services Associate. She joined the Freedman Financial Team in 2022. Some of Beth’s job responsibilities include:
- Preparing client reports
- Supporting client experience and relationships
- Account maintenance
- Ensuring all records are up-to-date
Beth is passionate about improving processes by utilizing her IT background and serving clients, all while learning new skills along the way.
Beth attended UMass Lowell where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology and later graduated from Bentley University where she earned her Master’s in Computer Information Systems.
Beth is married to her husband, Steve, and they have two sons, Robert and Christopher. Outside of the office she enjoys reading, photography, kayaking, hiking, watching her sons' ultimate disc golf games, as well as rooting for all Boston teams.
